Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elliott Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Cooper has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elliott Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Howe's waist but Howe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cooper off to one side.
A head kick misses from Howe.

Cooper changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Howe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Howe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cooper asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Cooper tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cooper has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cooper tries to score with some ground and pound. Howe controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Howe wants to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Howe defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cooper.
Howe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cooper paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Cooper tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Howe just stands there and leans against the cage.

Cooper tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

It looks like Elliott Howe has been cut.
Howe wants to stall.

Cooper has hold of one of Howe's legs. Howe is fighting the takedown attempt but Cooper gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Cooper wants to control from the top but Howe keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper is looking to work some ground and pound but Howe has wrist control.

Cooper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cooper shoots for a double leg takedown but Howe sprawls well. He's pushed Cooper's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Howe on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cooper has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Howe is looking to control Cooper's arms but Cooper gets an underhook and turns him. Now Howe has his back to the cage.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cooper. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Howe tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cooper just stands there and leans against the cage.

Howe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cooper smiles and moves away.

Cooper has Howe pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cooper pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Howe tumbling to the mat - Cooper dives into Howe's guard.
Cooper lands a couple of digs.
Howe wants to get back to his feet but Cooper is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cooper postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Howe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cooper, into his guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cooper escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Howe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cooper looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Howe passes into side control.

Howe working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Howe gets to mount! Cooper was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Howe moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cooper has worked his arm free - good work by Cooper!
The ground and pound from Howe seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Howe goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cooper has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Howe but great work by Cooper.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Howe throws a nice looking combination but Cooper bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cooper goes for a double leg but Howe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Howe continues to drive forward.

Howe on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Cooper postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Cooper is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Howe defends well.

Cooper lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Howe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
