Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Cardenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Jokes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Cardenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Jokes!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardenas misses the shot to the body.
Jokes with the counter takedown but Cardenas avoids it easily.
Jokes misses the body punch
letting Cardenas counter with a right hand.
Cardenas throws a hook to the side of Jokes's head but Jokes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jokes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cardenas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Cardenas fails with a takedown attempt.

Cardenas tries to sprawl but Jokes drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jokes wants to control but Cardenas is keeping him busy.

Jokes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cardenas defends it well.
Jokes is just content to waste time from the top position. Cardenas takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Jokes tries to free his leg and advance position but Cardenas is retaining full guard.
Jokes advances position into side control!
Cardenas is not content to let Jokes control the position.
Jokes prevents Cardenas from escaping the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jokes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cardenas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jokes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cardenas, who protects the arm well.

Jokes swings around for an armbar but Cardenas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jokes's guard.

Jokes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cardenas is controlling him.
Cardenas is stalling in the full guard.

Jokes has a closed guard, preventing Cardenas from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cardenas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cardenas won't allow Jokes to sweep him here.

Cardenas stands up and waves to Jokes to follow him.

Jokes gets a takedown into half guard.
Cardenas is trying to stand up here but Jokes is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jokes trying to control from half guard but Cardenas is working away.
Cardenas is looking for a sweep. Jokes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cardenas looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Jokes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jokes is looking to stall here but Cardenas recovers full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Jokes dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Cardenas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jokes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cardenas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cardenas is working Jokes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Cardenas wants to stand but Jokes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jokes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cardenas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cardenas trying to control the position from guard on top but Jokes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cardenas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jokes keeping moving, preventing Cardenas from controlling successfully.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cardenas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A jab from Cardenas finds it's way through Jokes's defenses.
Cardenas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jokes tries to work over Cardenas's front leg with a kick but Cardenas checks it.
A punch combination from Cardenas misses.
Jokes with the counter takedown but Cardenas avoids it easily.

Cardenas stuffs the takedown attempt from Jokes. Jokes gets slowly back to his feet.
Cardenas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jokes fails with the takedown.
Cardenas pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alex Jokes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jokes or perhaps it was just good defense by Cardenas, which made it look bad.
Brian Cardenas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Jokes.

Cardenas gets caught flat footed, as Jokes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jokes is breathing heavily.

Jokes has gone for a leg lock! Cardenas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jokes's guard.

Cardenas engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Jokes is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Cardenas frees his head nicely. Oh but Jokes has switched to an armbar! Cardenas is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Alex Jokes!
Alex Jokes was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
