PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Rogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Rogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 2, fighting out of New York, Arthur Smith !
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Rogan.
Smith is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Rogan avoids the body shot from Smith .
Rogan connects with a crisp jab.
Rogan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Smith tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Rogan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Smith has time to react.

We've been told by Rogan's head coaches at Montreal Elite Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively.

Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rogan was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith .

Rogan stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Smith .
Jeff Rogan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
It looked like Rogan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

It looks like Arthur Smith has been cut.
Rogan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Rogan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Smith can pounce on him.

Rogan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Smith .
And Smith tries to counter it with a takedown but Rogan pushes his down on his head and steps out.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Rogan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jeff Rogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Smith .

Smith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Rogan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Rogan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.
Smith appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Smith feints and then cracks Rogan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rogan down.

Rogan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith scores with a head kick. Rogan tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Jeff Rogan has been cut.
Rogan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rogan throws a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Rogan dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rogan keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Rogan tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Rogan bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Smith 's head backwards.
Rogan swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rogan won't be happy with that.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jeff Rogan will probably get the nod.

Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rogan keeps working.
Rogan is looking to escape.

Rogan is not content to let Smith control the position.

Rogan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith throws a leg kick which misses Rogan's front leg but catches the back leg as Rogan tries to avoid it.
Jeff Rogan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rogan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
