Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Blye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oliver has chosen Enter Sandman-Metallica as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucas Blye!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ray Oliver!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliver fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Oliver looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Blye is fending him off so far but Oliver persists. Nope, Blye circles away and we're back to standing.
Blye lands with a nice body punch.
Oliver fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lucas Blye has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Oliver.

and Blye cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Oliver dives in for a single leg takedown but Blye sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Blye throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blye misses the shot to the body.

Blye drives through with a takedown into Oliver's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Blye loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Blye lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Blye has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oliver is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Blye is looking to improve his position.
Blye has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Oliver is working away from the top position though.

Oliver is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Blye doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Oliver.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blye is positioning himself well to prevent Oliver advancing to mount.
Blye is trying to get back to full guard.

Oliver looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Blye is trying to control but can't.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Blye moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Oliver drops back, looking for a kneebar! Blye looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Blye looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Blye!

Oliver being controlled for a moment.
Blye scores with punches from side control.
Oliver is looking for a sweep.
Check out the look on Blye's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Blye cracks Oliver with a big elbow.
Blye scores with a couple of short elbows.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blye is working Oliver over with some ground and pound from side control.

Blye lands a nice forearm strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Blye dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Oliver feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Blye has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blye is trying to keep Oliver in close.
Blye is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Oliver can do to turn this around?

Oliver is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Blye is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Blye has escaped and now he's on top!

Lucas Blye overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oliver utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Blye won't allow Oliver to sweep him here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Blye accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Oliver wants to sweep but no luck.
Blye is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Blye got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oliver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blye has managed to get both his arms back between Oliver's legs - danger averted.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Oliver is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Oliver has his foot on Blye's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blye works his way back into a safe position though.
Blye wants to control from the top but Oliver keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Blye loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Our spies down at at TIGER MMA inform us that Oliver has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Blye chips away with some ground and pound.
Oliver is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Blye lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Blye postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Oliver is rocked!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Blye's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Oliver is still in real trouble! Can Blye finish him?
Blye cracks Oliver with a solid left hand.
Blye postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Oliver covers up, he's hurt! Blye keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Blye and the ref steps in to end the fight! Blye can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lucas Blye!
