Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Rude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rude has chosen Gunslinger as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Phoenix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Dominic Rude!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Phoenix.
Rude scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Rude cracks the inside of Phoenix's front leg.
Phoenix fails with the takedown
and Rude cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Rude gets caught flat footed, as Phoenix shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rude looking for a sweep. Not yet Rude, not yet.
Phoenix wants to control from the top but Rude keeps moving.
Rude is adopting a defensive guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rude has a closed guard, preventing Phoenix from standing up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Phoenix shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rude defends it nicely.
Rude looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rude tries to close the distance and clinch but Phoenix swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Phoenix throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Phoenix shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rude pinned against the cage. Rude gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Phoenix. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No joy there for Phoenix, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rude with a hook.
Phoenix fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Phoenix shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rude but Rude pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice takedown defense from Rude. No joy for Phoenix on that attempt.
Phoenix rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rude moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Rude counters with a straight right hand.
Rude throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Phoenix on the side of the head.
Phoenix misses with a takedown attempt - Rude sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rude. Phoenix does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rude throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Phoenix.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Phoenix.
Rude throws a series of punches but Phoenix moves out of range.
Phoenix changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Phoenix is looking to clinch.

Phoenix shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Phoenix was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rude tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Phoenix wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rude is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Rude struggling a bit here.
Phoenix tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rude's legs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Phoenix looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rude is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dominic Rude will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Rude throws a right and a left that Phoenix avoids nicely.

Phoenix misses with a takedown attempt - Rude sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Phoenix bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Phoenix shoots in for a takedown but Rude shows good takedown defense.

Rude throws a front kick aimed at Phoenix's knee but Phoenix avoids it well.
Phoenix wants to clinch.
Rude feints and then cracks Phoenix's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Phoenix down.
Phoenix dives in for a single leg takedown but Rude sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Phoenix changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rude tries to avoid it but Phoenix manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rude to the ground. Rude escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Phoenix shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Dominic Rude seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phoenix closes the distance and clinches up with Rude, looking for a takedown. Phoenix pushes Rude against the cage but Rude circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rude throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Rude moves into the clinch.
Rude misses with a punch to the body.
Phoenix is trying to pull guard but Rude has him pressed against the cage.
Phoenix jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rude walks away with a smile on his face. Phoenix gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Phoenix takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


Phoenix is rocked!
Paul Phoenix is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rude ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Oh Phoenix is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rude throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Phoenix gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Rude points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Phoenix wakes up just in time to hear Rude thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dominic Rude!
