Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ivan Milat!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Smith!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Milat. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
Smith jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Milat pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smith will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Milat cracks the inside of Smith's front leg.
A slow jab from Milat misses its intended target.
Smith goes for a double leg but Milat avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Milat continues to drive forward.
Smith gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A lazy left from Milat finds it's target.
A lazy body kick from Milat
and Milat takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smith takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Paul Smith has been cut.
Smith lands with a right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith moves into range and connects with a jab.
Smith jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Milat walks into a straight right hand from Smith.


Milat is rocked!
Nice straight punches there by Milat. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Milat.
Oh Milat is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Our sources have told us that Milat has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Smith tries to stall but Milat uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Milat scores with a shoulder strike.
Smith has a couple of punches blocked by Milat.
Smith lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Smith misses with a short punch on the inside.
Milat stalling.
Smith tries to stall but Milat uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Smith misses with some punches.
Smith managing to block the knees to the body from Milat.
A nice left hand lands by Milat.
Milat misses with a punch to the body.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Milat scores with a head kick. Smith tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Milat.

Milat lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Milat finish him?

Milat connects with a knee to the head.
Milat has Smith pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Smith is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Milat - that's hurt Smith badly! Oh, another knee lands and Smith is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Smith doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Ivan Milat!

Ivan Milat decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
