PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travwan Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fifi Kran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Travwan Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fifi Kran!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Bruno Hogan and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kran clinches with his opponent.

Kran breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Reid moves into the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kran as Reid tries to tie him up.
Reid looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Kran wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reid has him pressed against the cage.

Kran has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Reid is trying to keep an underhook but Kran manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Kran throwing shots but Reid is blocking nicely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kran lands a nice short elbow.
Kran trying to control from half guard but Reid is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reid wants to get back to his feet.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kran wants to stand but Reid is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reid tries for a takedown but Kran circles away easily

and Kran counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kran tries to pass to full mount but Reid defends it.

Reid pushes Kran off and gets back to his feet.
Kran throws a sloppy head kick and Reid moves out of range easily.
Kran fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Reid misses the shot to the body.

Reid clinches.
Reid wants to break the clinch but can't.

Kran ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kran no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kran is keeping the position for now.

Kran is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reid is aware though and is defending well.
Kran looks winded!

Reid has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kran is proving hard to escape from.
Reid has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Reid throws a big elbow that misses.
Reid is looking to pass into half guard but Kran pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kran is in guard.


Reid working for submissions but it's allowed Kran to get to half guard.
Kran wants to control but Reid is keeping him busy.
Reid flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Kran is pressing down on Reid's thigh, looking to free his foot. Reid is holding on for now.
Reid missing with punches from the bottom.
Ground and pound from Kran.
Kran wants to control but Reid is keeping him busy.
Reid preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kran throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fifi Kran dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Reid shoots in for a double leg but Kran sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kran leaves Reid with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Reid backing away here, and Kran unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Kran has managed to clinch.
Kran goes for a takedown attempt but Reid pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kran gets caught napping as Reid dives in and scores a takedown. Kran manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kran is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kran is nestled in close to Reid, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Reid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kran is looking to take a break and control but Reid is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kran has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kran decides to stand and escape the position.
Kran goes for a double leg but Reid avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reid continues to drive forward.
Reid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kran manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Reid keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Travwan Reid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fifi Kran.
Kran is breathing heavily.
Kran slaps away a takedown attempt from Reid, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reid stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reid wants it to stay on the feet.
Reid misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kran throws a fast counter high kick but Reid manages to duck under it in time.

Kran drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A control attempt from Reid but he's now mounted!
Kran looking to control but Reid is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kran looking to control and managing it successfully.

Kran landing punches.
Kran misses with a head shot.

Kran moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Reid has worked his arm free - good work by Reid!
Reid tries to buck Kran off but Kran is having none of it.
Reid is working hard here to advance position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kran just content to control the position.
Kran looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Reid is avoiding damage well.

Kran wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Reid, who protects the arm well.
Reid throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reid tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kran wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kran throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Reid works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fifi Kran showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Reid shoots in for a takedown but Kran shows good takedown defense.
Kran rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reid moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Reid dives in and grabs Kran's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kran pushes down on Reid's head and hops out.
Kran feints the counter takedown.

Kran clinches up with Reid and pushes him back against the cage.
Reid tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kran avoids it.
Reid is trying to break the clinch but Kran has him pressed against the cage.

Kran successfully pulls guard.
Reid won't allow Kran to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reid won't allow Kran to get back to his feet.

Kran working for a triangle but Reid defends it easily.

Reid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kran dives on top into guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reid keeping moving, preventing Kran from controlling successfully.
Reid looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kran puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Kran throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kran has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reid wants to get back to full guard.
Reid looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kran slows the pace down in half guard.
Kran wants to take a breather but Reid is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kran closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Reid's guard.

Reid looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kran throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kran advances to half guard.
Kran drops an elbow to the side of Reid's head.
Kran thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reid's head.
Reid is trying to get back to full guard.
Kran has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kran is working for a guillotine from mount but Reid frees his head quite easily.
Kran tries to control but Reid wriggling away.
Reid wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Travwan Reid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fifi Kran is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Fifi Kran comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kran has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
