Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frances Holt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johan Franzen!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franzen darts in and clinches Holt up against the cage.
Franzen will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Holt up against the cage.
Franzen landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Holt takes a shot to the head.
Holt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Franzen walks away with a smile on his face. Holt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Franzen has managed to clinch.
Holt wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Franzen lands with a right to the head.
Holt is trying to force a seperation but Franzen has the dominant position.
Holt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Franzen walks away with a smile on his face. Holt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franzen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Holt.
Franzen clinches up against the cage.
Franzen is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Holt tries to circle away but Franzen has him pinned against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Franzen unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Holt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Franzen smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frances Holt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Franzen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Holt is rocked!
It looks like Frances Holt has been cut.
Franzen has closed the distance and engaged Holt in a clinch.
Franzen has Holt pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Holt is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Franzen - that's hurt Holt badly! Oh, another knee lands and Holt is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Holt doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Johan Franzen!
