Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thor Odenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wladimir Fukushenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wladimir Fukushenko!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fukushenko tries for a takedown but Odenson circles away easily

and Odenson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Odenson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Fukushenko lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Odenson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fukushenko throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Odenson blocks it with crossed arms.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fukushenko drops down looking for an ankle pick but Odenson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Thor Odenson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wladimir Fukushenko.

Fukushenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Odenson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Fukushenko bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Odenson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Odenson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Odenson wants it to stay on the feet.

Fukushenko fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Odenson to the ground. Fukushenko is now in Odenson's guard.
Odenson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fukushenko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fukushenko tries to land a front kick but Odenson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Fukushenko will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
An attempted straight right counter from Odenson misses the target.
Fukushenko avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fukushenko changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Odenson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Odenson wants it to stay on the feet.

Odenson dives in and grabs Fukushenko's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fukushenko pushes down on Odenson's head and hops out.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fukushenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Odenson looks to score with a jab to the body but Fukushenko is just out of range.
Fukushenko wants to counter the offense by Odenson and move into the clinch position.

Odenson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Fukushenko presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

That was a close round but I would say that Thor Odenson will probably get the nod.

Fukushenko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Odenson enables Fukushenko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Odenson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Odenson wants to stand but Fukushenko is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Odenson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Fukushenko fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fukushenko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Odenson pinned against the cage. Odenson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wladimir Fukushenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fukushenko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Wladimir Fukushenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Fukushenko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Odenson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fukushenko is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Odenson.

Odenson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fukushenko to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Odenson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fukushenko on the ground.
Fukushenko pushes down on Odenson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fukushenko in particular looking to stall.
Fukushenko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fukushenko closes the distance and clinches up with Odenson, looking for a takedown. Fukushenko pushes Odenson against the cage but Odenson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Fukushenko is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Odenson to keep the fight standing.

Fukushenko moves to clinch but Odenson breaks away

and Odenson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fukushenko's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fukushenko lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Odenson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thor Odenson showed his dominance in that final round.
