Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jussi Hempele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azar Qasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Qasi has chosen For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jussi Hempele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qasi throws a combination. Hempele tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Qasi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hempele tries to avoid it but Qasi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hempele to the ground. Hempele escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hempele half committed to a counter leg kick.
Qasi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hempele is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Qasi lands with a straight right. Hempele didn't see that one coming.

and Qasi counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

We've been told by Hempele's head coaches at Altaca gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Qasi goes for a double leg but Hempele avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hempele continues to drive forward.

Azar Qasi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hempele is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Qasi can do to turn this around?
Hempele is looking to slow Qasi down with leg kicks.

Hempele bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Qasi's head backwards.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Qasi might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Hempele has got the better of the exchanges.

Qasi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Qasi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hempele is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Qasi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jussi Hempele is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Qasi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Qasi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hempele throws a nice outside leg kick.

Qasi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hempele to the ground. Qasi is now in Hempele's guard.

Hempele's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hempele fakes the leg kick and cracks Qasi in the body.
Qasi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Qasi has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hempele.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hempele, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
