The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wiz closes the distance but Barrett moves to the side
and Wiz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Barrett thuds a left hand into Wiz's body.
Wiz wants to clinch up but Barrett keeps it at a distance.
Barrett connects with the punch.

It looks like Big Wiz has been cut.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Barrett.
Sloppy strikes from Barrett. Those never looked like landing.
Barrett dips to his left and cracks Wiz with an uppercut!
Barrett throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Wiz counters with a straight right hand.
Barrett connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wiz's hands.
Wiz looks to throw the jab but Barrett is out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barrett has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Guerrilla MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Wiz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barrett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Wiz is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Barrett is keeping busy.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Barrett here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Big Wiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wiz throws a fast counter high kick but Barrett manages to duck under it in time.
Some bone on bone action there as Wiz checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

As Barrett backs off Wiz throws a huge counter combo but Barrett manages to avoid it all.

A decent looking cross lands there for Barrett.

and Barrett counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Barrett throws a leg kick which misses Wiz's front leg but catches the back leg as Wiz tries to avoid it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Big Wiz's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
