Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Suroki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Pondingham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, David Suroki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Douglas Pondingham!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Suroki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've been told by Suroki's head coaches at Nonstop Intensity that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Suroki. Pondingham does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pondingham throws a right hand that Suroki ducks under and follows up with a left that Suroki also avoids with ease.
Suroki throws a body punch but Pondingham moves out of range.
Pondingham has his takedown stuffed
and Suroki counters with a left to the body.
Suroki throws an overhand right that lands on Pondingham's shoulder, as Pondingham tries to avoid the shot.
Suroki swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pondingham counters with a series of strikes. Suroki will be more careful next time no doubt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Suroki misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pondingham takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


It looks like Douglas Pondingham has been cut.
Pondingham looks for a takedown but Suroki sprawls well.

Pondingham shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Suroki is trying to defend but Pondingham finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Suroki is looking for a sweep. Pondingham is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pondingham thows a huge punch but Suroki dodges it nicely.

Pondingham lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Pondingham has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Suroki wants to improve his position but Pondingham is controlling well.

Suroki preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Suroki slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Pondingham stopping the sweep attempt from Suroki.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pondingham missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Pondingham throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suroki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pondingham is looking to work some ground and pound but Suroki has wrist control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pondingham's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Suroki misses with a body shot.
Pondingham on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Suroki jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pondingham changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Pondingham. Those never looked like landing.
Suroki fails to land with a series of punches.
Suroki connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Pondingham bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
David Suroki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pondingham shoots in and drives through. Suroki sprawls well.
David Suroki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Douglas Pondingham.
Pondingham fails with the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Suroki scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Pondingham keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Pondingham swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Suroki gets in close and tags Pondingham with a short punch that almost sends Pondingham to the mat! Oh Pondingham is in big trouble! He turns his back on Suroki, trying to create some distance but Suroki rushes him, striking wildly and Pondingham goes down! The referee tackles Suroki into the cage to end the fight! Suroki is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Suroki!
David Suroki decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
