Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Meira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freddy White told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

13 - 9 - 3, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy White!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White throws a head kick but Meira moves out of range.
Meira blocks a jab.
White lands a head kick. Meira smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Carlos Meira has been cut.
White lunges at Meira with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Meira's hand.
White looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Carlos Meira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meira has White up against the cage in a clinch.
White's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Meira walks forward, straight into a front kick from White.
Meira fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with White, pushing him back against the cage.
Meira lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Meira just misses with a elbow thrown towards White's brow.

We've been hearing reports that Meira has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
White working hard to break the clinch.
White tries to break free but Meira pushes him back against the cage.
White is trying to force a seperation but Meira has the dominant position.

White avoids a wild elbow strike from Meira.

White lands a left hand that snaps the head of Meira backwards.
Meira throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but White blocks it with crossed arms.

White escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
White takes the fight into the clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Meira tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
White breaks from the clinch.

Meira misses with a takedown attempt
and White cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Meira dives in and grabs White's left leg, looking for a takedown. White pushes down on Meira's head and hops out.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from White! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Meira. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White throws a front kick that sends Meira stumbling back into the cage.
White throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Meira.
Meira is rocked!
Meira has a takedown stuffed.
Oh Meira is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
White looks for a left high kick but can't connect. White backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Meira's temple! It sends Meira violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as White celebrates and the doctors try to help Meira!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Freddy White!
