Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nicolas Jacobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artur Gagarin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nicolas Jacobson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Artur Gagarin!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Topper Green and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gagarin tries to clinch there but Jacobson circles away.
Gagarin bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Gagarin instigates a clinch.
Gagarin blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Gagarin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jacobson can't fight it off and eventually Gagarin manages to take the fight to the floor. Jacobson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gagarin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gagarin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jacobson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gagarin has managed to get both his arms back between Jacobson's legs - danger averted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jacobson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gagarin to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Jacobson is staying active underneath Gagarin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Gagarin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Gagarin blocks the strikes from Jacobson.
Jacobson is looking to improve his position.

Gagarin is looking to take a break and control but Jacobson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jacobson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gagarin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gagarin's back!

Gagarin lands with a good body shot.

Gagarin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jacobson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jacobson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gagarin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gagarin tries to clinch but Jacobson moves out of range.

Gagarin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jacobson is aware though and is defending well.

Gagarin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jacobson dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gagarin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jacobson manages to get himself to full guard.

Jacobson is striking from the bottom but Gagarin uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Artur Gagarin has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gagarin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jacobson's guard.

Artur Gagarin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Gagarin throws a nice looking combination but Jacobson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jacobson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Jacobson has momentary wrist control but Gagarin slips an elbow through the middle.

Gagarin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gagarin lands an elbow.
Jacobson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jacobson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gagarin presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Jacobson is desperately trying to improve his position but Gagarin has a good base and remains in mount.

Gagarin wants to take Jacobson's back but he can't do it this time.
Gagarin tries to control but Jacobson wriggling away.
Gagarin with shots to the head and body - Jacobson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Gagarin wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Jacobson tries to improve his position but instead Gagarin has taken his back!

Jacobson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gagarin gets his way!

Well Gagarin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
