Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yokozuna Asashoryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Collins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collins misses the body punch

and Asashoryu counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Collins down! Asashoryu is looking to finish but Collins is intelligently defending himself.
Asashoryu tries to free his leg and advance position but Collins is retaining full guard.
Asashoryu trying to control but Collins is working from the bottom.
Asashoryu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Asashoryu throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Asashoryu trying to control the position from guard on top but Collins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Collins wants to stand up but Asashoryu is controlling him.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Asashoryu has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Collins is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Collins scores with a hook.
Asashoryu misses with a body shot.
Collins fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Asashoryu manages to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Collins misses the target.
Asashoryu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Collins swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fred Collins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Collins throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Asashoryu counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Asashoryu, as that shot connected.
Whack! Asashoryu lands a heavy head kick that drops Collins. The ref tackles Asashoryu to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Collins was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Yokozuna Asashoryu!
During a confident post fight interview, Yokozuna Asashoryu thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
