Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Olin Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Mickael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olin Vargas has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Olin Vargas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Igor Mickael!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mickael clinches up against the cage.
Vargas jumps guard but Mickael turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Mickael breaks the clinch.
Mickael takes one on the button.

Vargas moves into range and clinches up with Mickael.
Vargas stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Vargas jumps guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mickael stands and steps away. Vargas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vargas dives in and scores a takedown into Mickael's guard.
Mickael is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mickael working for a triangle but Vargas defends it easily.

Mickael had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vargas defends it easily.

Mickael escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vargas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vargas prevents Mickael from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mickael avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mickael wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Vargas is now in half guard.

Vargas gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Mickael closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vargas's guard.
Mickael is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mickael throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Vargas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mickael doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mickael manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Vargas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mickael cracks Vargas with a solid left hand.

Mickael lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Vargas throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Mickael decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mickael gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Vargas lands a takedown into guard.

Mickael has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vargas is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mickael.

Vargas goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mickael has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vargas but great work by Mickael.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mickael controls the position.

Mickael scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Vargas to see if he's OK.

A close round but Igor Mickael will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Mickael shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vargas is trying to defend but Mickael finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mickael seems to be looking for submissions.
Mickael wants to take a breather but Vargas is having none of it.
Mickael stops Vargas from getting back to his feet.
Vargas tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Mickael blocks the strikes from Vargas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vargas is looking for a sweep. Mickael is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vargas wants to get back to his feet.

Mickael passes to side control.
Mickael wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vargas keeps working.
Vargas manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Vargas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mickael has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Vargas off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Mickael got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vargas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mickael has managed to get both his arms back between Vargas's legs - danger averted.

Vargas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mickael defends well.
Mickael has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mickael working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Vargas's head.

Vargas keeping moving, preventing Mickael from controlling successfully.
Vargas trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Mickael trying to control the position from guard on top but Vargas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mickael loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mickael passes Vargas's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mickael is trying to control. Vargas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mickael shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vargas manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Igor Mickael has got the better of the ground game so far.

Igor Mickael showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Mickael manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vargas on his heels. He'll look to pass Vargas's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mickael stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vargas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vargas wriggles free and stands up.

Mickael closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.


Vargas is rocked!

Mickael working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Vargas wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Vargas is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mickael has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mickael wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vargas keeps working.
Vargas is trying to get back to half guard.
Vargas misses with a strike from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mickael lands some shots froms side control.
Mickael laying and praying for a moment but Vargas takes advantage and regains half guard.

Mickael stops Vargas from getting back to his feet.

Vargas manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mickael keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Vargas doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Mickael wants the takedown. Vargas is fighting it off but Mickael persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vargas's guard against the cage.

Vargas will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mickael wants to control from the top but Vargas keeps moving.
Vargas thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mickael clinches up with Vargas and pushes him back against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mickael stalls.
Vargas tries to circle away but Mickael has him pinned against the cage.
Vargas can't find room to land a body shot as Mickael controls the action.
Mickael has Vargas pressed against the cage.

Mickael manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Mickael escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vargas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Igor Mickael comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mickael winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
