These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stevenson clinches with his opponent.
Vessanen tries to work over Stevenson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Stevenson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Vessanen is defending well.
Vessanen is pressed up against the cage. Stevenson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vessanen down to the mat. Vessanen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Vessanen has closed the distance and engaged Stevenson in a clinch.
Vessanen lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Stevenson is looking to take this one to the mat.
