PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sub Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perseen Suti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Norris comes to the cage accompanied by Norris Man - When Your Time Is Up. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sub Norris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Perseen Suti!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Suti drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Norris struggling a bit here.
Suti postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Norris takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Norris is looking for a sweep.
Norris is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Suti has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Norris tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suti working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Suti in side control lands a decent elbow.

Suti misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Norris dodges the ground and pound from Suti.
Suti trying to control the action but Norris is working from the bottom.
Norris manages to get back to half guard.
Suti stalling away here and it's allowed Norris to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Suti cracks Norris with a big right hand but Norris just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Norris is holding Suti down, trying to stall.

Norris is looking for a sweep.
Norris is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Suti asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Suti throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Norris tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Suti wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Norris is not content to let Suti control the position.

Suti content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Norris parries the strikes from Suti easily there. Suti is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Norris to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Norris is working to avoid the ground and pound but Suti connects with a decent elbow.
Norris is trying to get back to half guard.
Suti trying to control the position but Norris is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Perseen Suti dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Suti fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Suti wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Suti closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Norris's guard.
Perseen Suti has got the better of the ground game so far.
Norris controls Suti momentarily but Suti frees himself.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Suti's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suti trying to control the position from guard on top but Norris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Norris is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Suti dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Suti swings around for an armbar but Norris sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Suti's guard.
Suti is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Norris is fighting to break Suti's control of his arms but Suti is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Norris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Norris is looking to advance position but Suti has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Norris is wriggling around trying to escape.
Suti avoids the attempt from Norris to control.
Norris is squirming around, avoiding Suti's attempts to control the action.
Suti lands a couple of good shots and Norris has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Norris is really stuck here.
Norris wants to control his opponent's hands but Suti gets his hands free.

Suti is punishing Norris with strikes - can he finish him?!
Suti has the hooks in. Norris is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Suti lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Norris hold on?!
Norris rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Suti is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Suti is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Norris tries to kick Suti off but Suti keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Norris is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suti pulls his head out easily.
Suti is keen to just control but Norris is a slippery customer.

Norris is trying to stand up here but Suti is controlling him well.

Suti keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Norris's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Norris takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Perseen Suti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Norris tries to score a power double leg takedown but Suti sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Norris somewhat.
Suti moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Suti has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nice takedown defense from Suti. No joy for Norris on that attempt.

Suti keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sub Norris. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Norris is rocked!

Suti shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Norris manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Oh Norris is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Norris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Norris seems to have got his legs back now.

Suti slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Norris tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Suti manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A nice side step and Suti releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Perseen Suti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suti looks to land a combination but Norris avoids it well.
Suti scores with a hook to the body. Norris takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Perseen Suti is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Suti cracks Norris with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Norris tries for a takedown but Suti sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Suti lands a glancing blow to the side of Norris's head.
Suti paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Norris moves away from the strike by Suti.

and Suti counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Suti is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Suti stops Norris from getting back to his feet.

Sub Norris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Suti is just content to waste time from the top position. Norris takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Perseen Suti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Suti has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
