PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Buhler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrell Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Terrell Grant told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terrell Grant!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buhler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Grant drives through and clinches with Buhler against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Buhler as Grant tries to tie him up.
Grant is trying to pull guard but Buhler turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Grant throws a knee to the head but misses.

Buhler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Buhler throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Grant keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Buhler moves out of range of the body kick.
Buhler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Buhler scores with a crisp jab that stopped Grant in his tracks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grant lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Buhler circles away quickly and effectively.

It looks like Marco Buhler has been cut.
Buhler throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Grant stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Buhler connects with a body shot that sends Grant's belly button to the back.
Buhler looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Grant darts in looking for a takedown but Buhler gets double underhooks and turns Grant into the cage.
Buhler thinks about countering with a body kick.
Marco Buhler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terrell Grant.
Grant has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Grant there as he acknowledges the shot.

It looks like Terrell Grant has been cut.
Buhler thuds his shin into the meat of Grant's side.

Grant throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Buhler's waist but Buhler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grant off to one side.

Grant is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Buhler connects with a leg kick. Grant looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Grant avoids the head kick by Buhler.
Buhler takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Buhler goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Grant changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Buhler moves out of range as Grant strikes.

This has been an exciting period of action!

A head kick misses from Buhler.
Buhler throws a head kick that misses.
Grant tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Buhler defends well and Grant ends up having to push Buhler into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Grant darts in looking for a takedown but Buhler gets double underhooks and turns Grant into the cage.

and Grant decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Buhler's guard.
Grant wants to pass the guard but Buhler is keeping the position.
Buhler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Buhler.
Buhler looks to land a body kick but Grant moved away.
Buhler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Buhler lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Grant is breathing heavily.
Buhler swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Buhler scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Marco Buhler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Grant crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Buhler - the referee stops the clock and Grant gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Buhler. Grant manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

And Grant tries to counter it with a takedown but Buhler pushes his down on his head and steps out.
