Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Orpo Jokinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jokinen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Oops! I Did It Again by Children of Bodom. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Orpo Jokinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Fedor Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen just misses with a punch to the body.
Belfort clobbers Jokinen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Belfort does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jokinen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Belfort moves away.
Belfort scores with a hook.
Belfort closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jokinen circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jokinen.
Belfort drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jokinen defends it well.
An inside leg kick lands from Jokinen.
Belfort fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Belfort shoots in looking for a takedown. Jokinen tries to sprawl out of it but Belfort keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jokinen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Orpo Jokinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Belfort.
Belfort takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Belfort lands a glancing blow to the side of Jokinen's head.

Belfort dives in and scores a takedown into Jokinen's guard.
Belfort trying to control but Jokinen is working from the bottom.
Belfort is stalling in the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belfort accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jokinen looking for a guillotine here but Belfort defends easily.

Jokinen has his foot on Belfort's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Belfort works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Belfort is looking to work some ground and pound but Jokinen has wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sloppy strikes from Belfort. Those never looked like landing.
Donk. Jokinen catches Belfort right on the button with a cross.
Jokinen's corner calls for a 1-2. Jokinen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Belfort checks the leg kick nicely there.
Belfort rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jokinen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Belfort pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jokinen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jokinen doesn't manage to clinch there - Belfort circles away.
Jokinen throws a head kick but Belfort moves out of range.
Belfort digs a good hook to Jokinen's body.
A telegraphed right hand from Jokinen misses the target.
Jokinen scores with a spinning back kick!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A thudding body kick lands there by Jokinen!

Jokinen drops his hands momentarily and Belfort takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jokinen looks to land a combination. Belfort sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Good work by Jokinen as he checks the leg kick.
Jokinen looks for the body kick but Belfort saw that one coming.
Belfort tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jokinen defends well and Belfort ends up having to push Jokinen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jokinen scores with a jab to the jaw.
Jokinen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Belfort has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Belfort counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jokinen is looking for a sweep. Belfort is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jokinen is trying to control but Belfort manages to pass to mount!
Jokinen tries to hold on but Belfort postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fedor Belfort will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jokinen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Belfort. That did some damage!
Belfort defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jokinen.
Jokinen fails with a takedown attempt.
Jokinen tries a head kick but it misses.
Jokinen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Belfort cracks Jokinen with a good jab.
Orpo Jokinen is winning the standup battle so far.
Belfort shoots in but no luck this time.

Belfort decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jokinen is not content to let Belfort control the position.
Jokinen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Belfort seems to be working for a kimura but Jokinen defends the submission attempt.

Jokinen looking for submissions off his back.

Jokinen is looking to control Belfort's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jokinen avoid being mounted?
Belfort is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jokinen tries to roll over but Belfort keeps him under control.
Belfort with the ground and pound but Jokinen uses the opportunity to regain guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jokinen trying to keep a closed guard but Belfort is proving a slippery customer.
Jokinen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Belfort is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jokinen is really struggling to control Belfort but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Jokinen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Belfort wants to control from the top but Jokinen keeps moving.

Fedor Belfort showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Belfort closes the distance and clinches up with Jokinen, looking for a takedown. Belfort pushes Jokinen against the cage but Jokinen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jokinen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Belfort shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jokinen defends it nicely.
Jokinen looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Orpo Jokinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Belfort feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jokinens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Belfort blocks a head kick by Jokinen.
Belfort shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jokinen pinned against the cage. Jokinen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Orpo Jokinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Belfort.

Jokinen drops Belfort with a beautiful combination! Belfort stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jokinen is looking for the KO!

and Jokinen counters with a big right hand! Oh Belfort is in trouble here! Jokinen follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Orpo Jokinen!
Orpo Jokinen opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
