Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Karl Socha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dennis Oppelaar!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Oppelaar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
An attempted straight right counter from Socha misses the target.
Oppelaar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Socha counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Oppelaar tests Socha's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Oppelaar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Socha counters with a nice leg kick.
Oppelaar takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A left and a right from Socha both land. Nice combination.
Oppelaar shoots in looking for a takedown but Socha manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Oppelaar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Oppelaar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Socha misses with an attempted mid kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Oppelaar has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oppelaar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oppelaar misses with a double jab.
Oppelaar throws a right and a left that Socha avoids nicely.
Socha moves in looking to clinch but Oppelaar pushes him off.
Oppelaar tries to land a front kick but Socha steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Oppelaar misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Socha to counter with a crisp jab.
Socha jabs Oppelaar right on the nose. Oppelaar blinks but takes it well.
Socha lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Oppelaar out cold! Oppelaar is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Karl Socha!
