Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Whitaker !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Rodelin!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Rodelin tries to clinch up
and Whitaker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rodelin closes the distance but Whitaker moves to the side
and Whitaker counters with a stiff right hand.
Rodelin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Rodelin clinches up against the cage.
Whitaker is trying to break the clinch but Rodelin is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head punch on the inside from Whitaker fails to land.

Rodelin breaks the clinch.
Rodelin throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Whitaker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

and Whitaker counters with a stiff right hand.

and Whitaker counters with a nice uppercut.
Rodelin throws a sloppy head kick and Whitaker moves out of range easily.
We've been told by Whitaker 's head coaches at The Shark Tank that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Whitaker throws a jab but it's blocked by Rodelin.
Whitaker sets himself, and Rodelin steps forward looking for the clinch! Whitaker avoids it this time.
Rodelin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Whitaker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rodelin doesn't seem bothered though.
Ray Whitaker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Whitaker looks to land a left hand but Rodelin moved out of range nicely.
No luck for Rodelin with that takedown attempt.

Whitaker throws a good cross that connects.
Rodelin looks to clinch
and Whitaker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rodelin tries for a takedown but Whitaker circles away easily
and Whitaker counters with a stiff right hand.

Rodelin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Whitaker is trying to push Rodelin away but Rodelin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Whitaker can't break the clinch.
Rodelin is trying to pull guard but Whitaker has him pressed against the cage.
Whitaker lands with a right to the head.
Whitaker lands a shoulder strike.

Whitaker lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Rodelin backwards.
Whitaker makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Whitaker lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Rodelin is still on wobbly legs! Can Whitaker finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Whitaker manages to break the clinch.
Rodelin seems to have recovered his senses.
Whitaker misses with an uppercut. Rodelin saw that one coming.
Rodelin dives in and grabs Whitaker 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Whitaker pushes down on Rodelin's head and hops out.
Whitaker swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

and Whitaker counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rodelin thinking.
Whitaker is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Whitaker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Whitaker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Brian Rodelin has been cut.
Whitaker slaps away a takedown attempt from Rodelin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Whitaker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rodelin can do to turn this around?

Horrible takedown attempt by Rodelin or perhaps it was just good defense by Whitaker , which made it look bad.

and Whitaker counters with a big left hand that crumples Rodelin! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
