The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Martinez is defended easily by Burris.
Burris tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Martinez is looking to clinch.
Burris wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Martinez lands a nice looking body kick.
Martinez moves in looking to clinch but Burris pushes him off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Martinez.
Burris tries to counter by clinching up but Martinez breaks away and moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burris is pressed up against the cage. Martinez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Burris down to the mat. Burris avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Burris has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Martinez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Burris.

Burris goes for a double leg but Martinez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Martinez continues to drive forward.
Burris stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burris wants it to stay on the feet.

Martinez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Martinez wants to improve his position but instead Burris has moved into half guard.

Burris might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Martinez is breathing heavily.

Martinez thows a huge punch but Burris dodges it nicely.
Franklyn Burris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Burris has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Martinez escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Martinez!
Martinez is looking to take a break and control but Burris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Martinez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Burris haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Martinez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Martinez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Martinez stands up and beckons Burris to his feet.
Burris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Martinez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Burris counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Martinez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Burris sprawls well. Burris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martinez gets slowly back to his feet.

Franklyn Burris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Burris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martinez, pushing him back against the cage.
Burris is trying to pull guard but Martinez has him pressed against the cage.

Burris pulls guard successfully.

Burris has his foot on Martinez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martinez works his way back into a safe position though.

Martinez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Burris is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Martinez defends well.

Burris has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Martinez doesn't defend quickly enough and Burris has managed to lock this one up! Can Martinez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Burris on a fantastic submission victory.
