The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman tries to clinch but Neumann moves out of range.

Neumann manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Newman on his heels. He'll look to pass Newman's guard now, I'm sure.
Newman thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Newman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Newman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Neumann holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newman tries to stand but Neumann is controlling from the bottom.

Neumann postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Newman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Neumann, into his guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Newman wants to stand but Neumann has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Newman takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Neumann darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Newman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Neumann's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Neumann's back!

Neumann is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Newman is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Neumann defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Neumann is looking for a kimura but Newman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Neumann to get the leverage.
Newman tries to roll over but Neumann keeps him under control.
Neumann slips a nice elbow through Newman's hands, connecting with Newman's forehead.

Neumann is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neumann moves nicely into side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Newman regains half guard there - taking advantage of Neumann's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Neumann has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Newman is rocked!

It looks like Charles Newman has been cut.

Neumann has hold of Newman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Newman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Oh Newman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Neumann is working for a guillotine from mount but Newman frees his head quite easily.
Neumann loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Newman scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Neumann land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Neumann stands and salutes the crowd.
