PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akd Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Balboa comes to the cage accompanied by Strength of a Thousand Men. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rocky Balboa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akd Junior!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Balboa avoids it really well and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Junior.

Balboa feints and as Junior raises his hands in defense, Balboa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Balboa looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Balboa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Balboa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Balboa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Balboa works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Balboa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Junior doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Balboa.
Balboa content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Balboa decides to stand and escape the position.

Balboa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Junior counters with a head kick. That will keep Balboa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

It looks like Rocky Balboa has been cut.
Balboa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rocky Balboa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akd Junior.

Balboa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, if Balboa is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Balboa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Junior's head.

Balboa stands up out of the half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Junior tries to score a power double leg takedown but Balboa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Junior somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Balboa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Junior is fending him off so far but Balboa persists. Nope, Junior circles away and we're back to standing.
Balboa shoots in for a double leg but Junior sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Junior goes for a double leg but Balboa avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Balboa continues to drive forward.
Junior closes this distance looking for a takedown but Balboa circles away.
Rocky Balboa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Horrible takedown attempt by Junior or perhaps it was just good defense by Balboa, which made it look bad.
Balboa is looking for a counter combo.

Balboa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Junior uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Balboa.
Junior is looking for the big counter here.

Balboa tries for a takedown but Junior sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Balboa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Junior defends it nicely.

Junior lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Junior tries to close the distance and clinch up but Balboa swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Balboa is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Balboa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Balboa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Junior's half guard.
Balboa is pressing down on Junior's thigh, looking to free his foot. Junior is holding on for now.
It looks like Balboa is going to stand back up.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Balboa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Junior is just riding it out for now. Balboa eventually gives up the hold.
Junior has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Balboa is working away from the top position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Junior tries to clinch but Balboa is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Balboa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Junior is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Junior really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Balboa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Akd Junior comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
