Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guy Buchanan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricky Alverez!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alverez takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Alverez clinches up with Buchanan and pushes him back against the cage.

Alverez pulls Buchanan into guard.
Buchanan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Alverez wants to control the position but Buchanan says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Alverez regains full guard. Nicely done.
Alverez pulls Buchanan in close to prevent any damage.
Alverez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Alverez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Buchanan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Alverez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Buchanan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alverez has managed to get both his arms back between Buchanan's legs - danger averted.

Buchanan throws a nice looking combination but Alverez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alverez wants to counter the offense by Buchanan and move into the clinch position.

Alverez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Buchanan is trying to defend but Alverez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Buchanan is trying to maintain the position but Alverez is very close to passing his half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Guy Buchanan will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Alverez is trying to trip Buchanan. He has hold of a leg but Buchanan is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Alverez persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Buchanan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Buchanan has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Alverez works to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Buchanan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Buchanan stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Buchanan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alverez to the mat! Alverez manages to get full guard.
Alverez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Buchanan stands and steps away. Alverez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Guy Buchanan.
I think Buchanan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
