I think Ishikawa might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to mindshift genki sudo. Akira Ishikawa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Ishikawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tommy Cottero!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cottero lands with a hook. Ishikawa tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cottero circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ishikawa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ishikawa gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Cottero.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cottero.
Ishikawa moves to clinch but Cottero breaks away
and Cottero counters with a stiff right hand.

Ishikawa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cottero's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cottero not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cottero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ishikawa is aware though and is defending well.

Cottero pulls Ishikawa in close to his closed guard and prevents Ishikawa from doing any damage or advancing position.

Cottero has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ishikawa has passed into side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ishikawa is looking to take a break and control but Cottero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Cottero's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ishikawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cottero keeps working.

Ishikawa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cottero knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cottero wants to control but Ishikawa postures up.
Ishikawa is looking to take a break and control but Cottero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ishikawa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

and Ishikawa counters with a series of strikes. Cottero will be more careful next time no doubt.

Cottero ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ishikawa moves away.
Ishikawa tries to counter by clinching up but Cottero breaks away and moves out of range.
Ishikawa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cottero manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Akira Ishikawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

It seemed like Cottero was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Cottero misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Cottero counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ishikawa thinking.
Ishikawa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Tommy Cottero seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Cottero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cottero tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ishikawa was well out of range. Poor timing from Cottero.

Ishikawa clinches up with Cottero and pushes him back against the cage.
Ishikawa lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Ishikawa throws a punch but it's blocked by Cottero.
A nice left hand lands by Cottero.
Come on Cottero - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Ishikawa misses with the head strike.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Cottero.
Ishikawa throws an elbow but it misses.
A head punch on the inside from Cottero fails to land.
A shot in the inside from Cottero.
Cottero stalling in the clinch but Ishikawa improves position.
Ishikawa with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


Cottero is rocked!
Ishikawa lands a big knee to the head and Cottero goes down! Ishikawa pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
