PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maurício Aurelio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sackett tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sackett cracks Aurelio with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A cross from Sackett lands.
Sackett lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Aurelio blocks a jab.

Sackett clinches.
Sackett scores with a nice hook to the head.
Aurelio fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Aurelio throws a punch but it's blocked by Sackett.
Sackett lands with a short shot to the head.

Sackett breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sackett does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sackett lands a head shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sackett throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Aurelio attempts a counter takedown but Sackett avoids it well and moves away.
Sackett misses with an attempted mid kick.
Aurelio tries to counter with a takedown but Sackett is quick to defend against it.
Logan Sackett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sackett fails to land with a series of punches.
Sackett swings widly with a right hand

and Aurelio counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Aurelio trying to control from half guard but Sackett is working away.

Aurelio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sackett is just riding it out for now. Aurelio eventually gives up the hold.
Aurelio is looking to advance position but Sackett won't allow it.
Sackett is looking for a sweep. Aurelio is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Aurelio is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sackett doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aurelio.
Sackett slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Aurelio trying to control the position from guard on top but Sackett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Aurelio bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Sackett.
Sackett connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Aurelio shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Aurelio looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sackett is fending him off so far but Aurelio persists. Nope, Sackett circles away and we're back to standing.
Aurelio doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Sackett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aurelio moves away.
Aurelio throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sackett stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sackett pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sackett throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A big right from Sackett misses.
Aurelio half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Aurelio blocks a head kick by Sackett.
Sackett jabs at Aurelio's body.
Sackett throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aurelio tries to counter with a takedown but Sackett is quick to defend against it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sackett misses with a looping right.
Sackett thuds his shin into the meat of Aurelio's side.
Sackett leaves Aurelio with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Sackett dominated that round.
That's time! Aurelio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Aurelio feints and as Sackett raises his hands in defense, Aurelio changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sackett is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Aurelio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sackett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Aurelio content to stall in guard here.
Aurelio is looking to pass into half guard but Sackett pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Sackett is in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aurelio looking for a triangle here. Sackett is fighting it but it looks tight! Aurelio pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Sackett is tapping out - this one is all over!
