Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ezra Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 34 - 1, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ezra Ray!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strikes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ray swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Strikes tries for a takedown but Ray sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ray takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Strikes doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ray counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Strikes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ray sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Strikes somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Strikes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strikes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Strikes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ray as he avoids it easily.
Ray fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Strikes on the side of the head.
No joy there for Ray, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ray throws a shot from downtown. Strikes moves away and avoids it.
Strikes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Strikes tries to clinch but Ray is having none of it.

Ray feints and then cracks Strikes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Strikes down.

Ray swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ray lands a hook that snaps the head of Strikes backwards.
Ray throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Strikess head.
Ray throws a head punch that misses.
Strikes looking to slow down the pace here.
Strikes wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Strikes is trying to stall.
Strikes blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ray scores with a nice hook to the head.
Ray swings wildly with an uppercut but Strikes uses good head movement to avoid it.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Strikes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ezra Ray dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Strikes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ray throws out the jab.
Strikes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ray's waist but Ray gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Strikes off to one side.

Horrible takedown attempt by Strikes or perhaps it was just good defense by Ray, which made it look bad.

Ezra Ray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Strikes looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Ray tests Strikes's chin there with a solid looking shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Strikes. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

enabling Ray to counter with a crisp jab.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ray fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ray lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Ezra Ray comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ray has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
