Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Auro Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Auro Alves told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
West works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Alves darts in looking for a takedown but West gets double underhooks and turns Alves into the cage.
Alves shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. West defends it nicely.
Alves shoots in but West avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Billy West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Auro Alves.
West works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

West shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
West is looking to work some ground and pound but Alves has wrist control.
West postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with West. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
West lands a couple of digs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West cracks Alves with a solid left hand.

West manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alves manages to get himself to full guard.

West has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
West is nestled in close to Alves, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

West uses his free foot to push down on Alves's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alves.

West postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Alves looks a forlorn figure.
