Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Hale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathan Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shaun Hale!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hale drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hale blocks the strikes from Mason.
Mason is looking for a sweep.
Mason striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Hale remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Mason is looking to regain half guard here but Hale keeps moving and retains side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason forces Hale back against the cage and clinches.

Hale has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mason regains guard immediately.
Hale wants to pass the guard but Mason is keeping the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mason is on top in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hale pulls Mason in to control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hale can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hale looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there.

Mason is looking to stand up but Hale won't let him.
Hale pulls Mason in close to prevent any damage.
Hale wants to hit a switch here but Mason passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hale there!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hale is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hale wants to hold on but Mason pushes him away.
Hale is looking to improve his position but Mason isn't that keen on the idea.

Mason working for a guillotine from mount but Hale is in no mood to give up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hale tries to hold on but Mason postures up.

Mason jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hale manages to avoid the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hale controlling the action here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hale blocks the strikes from Mason.

A nice combination there by Mason.
Mason lands a jab-cross combination.
Mason comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Hale shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mason manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hale lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hale passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hale slows the pace down.

Hale has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hale tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hale has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hale has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mason's face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Let's hope that Hale has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Hale lands a couple of good shots and Mason has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
