Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mustafa Shabazz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mustafa Shabazz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mustafa Shabazz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Smith!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Shabazz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Shabazz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shabazz is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Smith.
Shabazz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shabazz's waist but Shabazz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Mustafa Shabazz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Smith.

Shabazz was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've been hearing reports that Shabazz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Shabazz, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Shabazz against the cage but Shabazz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Shabazz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Shabazz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
