The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fredriksson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Fredriksson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cortega keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Cortega scores with a takedown into Fredriksson's guard.

Cortega decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fredriksson stuffs the takedown attempt from Cortega. Cortega gets slowly back to his feet.
Cortega tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Fredriksson is able to avoid easily.
Fredriksson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cortega tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fredriksson defends well and Cortega ends up having to push Fredriksson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fredriksson feints and then cracks Cortega's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cortega down.
Fredriksson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cortega momentarily.

Cortega has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Fredriksson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cortega was well out of range. Poor timing from Fredriksson.

Fredriksson slaps away a takedown attempt from Cortega, before circling back to the center of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fredriksson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cortega under the eye.

A decent looking cross lands there for Fredriksson.
Fredriksson lands a big head kick that sends Cortega to the canvas! Fredriksson follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
