PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keni Susi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sun Kato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Susi comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Hero of the Day. Kato has chosen STILL BALLIN as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Sun Kato enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 36 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Keni Susi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sun Kato!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Susi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kato circles away.
Susi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kato defends it nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kato. Susi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Susi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kato as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keni Susi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Susi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kato pinned against the cage. Kato gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Susi.
Kato is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Susi shoots in looking for a takedown. Kato tries to sprawl out of it but Susi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kato manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Susi scores with a shot to the body.
Kato leaves Susi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Susi goes for a double leg but Kato avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kato continues to drive forward.
Kato swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Kato tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kato stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kato wants it to stay on the feet.
Kato steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Susi.
Kato misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Susi.
Susi tries to counter with a takedown but Kato is quick to defend against it.
Susi blocks a jab.
Kato feints and then cracks Susi's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Susi down.
Susi swings for the body but Kato moves out of range.
Susi defending well as Kato loads up on a big left hand.
Susi appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Susi shoots in and gets a takedown into Kato's guard.
Kato keeping full guard, as Susi tries to pass.
Kato is pulling down on Susi's head. It's preventing any offense from Susi, at least for the moment.
Kato wants to stand and escape but Susi is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Susi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kato is trying to improve his position.

Susi has hold of Kato's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kato tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Susi cranks the arm and Kato screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kato, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Keni Susi!
A relieved looking Keni Susi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
