PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Davie Brophy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allen Carrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brophy kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Allen Carrero!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrero ducks under a wild hook from Brophy.
Nice body punch from Brophy.
Brophy scores with a decent looking hook.
Brophy looks to land a right hand but Carrero moved out of range.
And Carrero tries to counter it with a takedown but Brophy pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Brophy catches Carrero with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Brophy cracks Carrero with a good jab.
Carrero looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Carrero with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Brophy to score with a decent uppercut.

Brophy lands with an uppercut that bounces Carrero off the cage and back into range.

And Carrero tries to counter it with a takedown but Brophy pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Brophy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Carrero sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Carrero drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Brophy defends it well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brophy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brophy tries to get out of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carrero stands up over Brophy, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Carrero controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Carrero is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Brophy looks to throw the jab but Carrero is out of range.
We've been told by Brophy's head coaches at Diamond Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

A decent looking cross lands there for Brophy.

Brophy lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Brophy feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Carreros jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Carrero shoots in for a takedown but Brophy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Carrero looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Carrero dives in and grabs Brophy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brophy pushes down on Carrero's head and hops out.
Davie Brophy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Allen Carrero.

Carrero takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Brophy lands a really nice looking cross but Carrero seems unphased.

Carrero is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Brophy fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Carrero on the side of the head.
Carrero takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Carrero counters with a single leg into guard. Brophy didn't expect that.

Carrero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Brophy is looking to control Carrero's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brophy avoid being mounted?
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Davie Brophy will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Brophy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carrero on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Carrero takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brophy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
