The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Knox gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but Knox has taken the fight into the clinch.
Smith fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Knox keeps control of Smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knox misses with a knee to the head.

Smith has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Knox regains guard immediately.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith postures up in Knox's guard and throws a big left but Knox blocks it.
Knox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Smith stops Knox from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith throws a big right hand that misses.
Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Knox pushes Smith off and gets back to his feet.
Knox is looking to clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Knox.

It looks like Brad Smith has been cut.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Knox has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Smith is on him like a limpet, forcing Knox back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith tries to break the clinch but Knox is controlling the position.

Smith lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Knox wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Knox is looking to escape.

Smith with the ground and pound but Knox uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Smith cracks Knox with a solid left hand.
Smith is working Knox over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

It looks like Kevin Knox has been cut.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Smith throws a big elbow that misses.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith distracts Knox with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but Knox has wrist control.
Knox controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself.
Smith postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Knox is rocked!

Kevin Knox's cut is getting worse.
Smith gets to his feet and stands over Knox, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Knox felt that one! Smith unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Knox from any more punishment!

Brad Smith was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
