PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Adam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vin Diesel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Adam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vin Diesel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adam keeps the fight on the outside.
Adam throwing a counter right hand but Diesel manages to avoid it.
Diesel looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Diesel shoots in looking for a takedown but Adam manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diesel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Adam is looking to clinch.
Adam tries to clinch up.
Adam lands a glancing blow to the side of Diesel's head.
Adam shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Adam shoots in for a takedown but Diesel shows good takedown defense.
Adam shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Diesel as he jumps to the side.

Diesel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diesel wants it to stay on the feet.
Adam is trying hard to land a takedown here. Diesel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Adam drives through and clinches with Diesel against the cage.
Adam tries to score a body lock takedown but Diesel shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Diesel gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Adam looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diesel is one step ahead there.
Diesel throws a big right hand that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diesel throwing strikes from guard but Adam blocks nicely.
Adam wants to stand but Diesel is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adam is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Diesel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Adam is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Diesel swats away the attempt to clinch by Adam.
Adam throws a lazy right hand but Diesel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Diesel shoots for a takedown but Adam saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Adam looks to land a combination but Diesel avoids it well.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diesel is defended easily by Adam.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Adam.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Diesel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Adam as he jumps to the side.
Adam shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diesel pinned against the cage. Diesel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Adam will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Adam rushes Diesel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Adam breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Adam misses with a double jab.
Diesel tries for a takedown but Adam sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Adam is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Diesel.
John Adam is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Adam wants to clinch.
Diesel is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adam lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Adam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diesel's waist but Diesel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Adam off to one side.

Adam tries to kick Diesel off but Diesel keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Diesel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Adam doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diesel.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Diesel trying to mount his opponent but Adam defends it.
Adam knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diesel on the ground.
Adam has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diesel is working away from the top position though.
Adam is refusing to be controlled, as Diesel sits in half guard.
Adam tries to get to full guard but Diesel has control of the leg.
Vin Diesel has got the better of the ground game so far.
Adam looks like he's trying to stand up.

Diesel with the ground and pound but Adam uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Adam keeping moving, preventing Diesel from controlling successfully.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Adam is on top in guard.

Diesel looking for a sweep. Not yet Diesel, not yet.

Diesel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Adam defends it easily.
Adam wants to control from the top but Diesel keeps moving.

Diesel preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vin Diesel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Diesel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
