PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Deep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaius Julius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caesar has chosen How do you gauge Caesar? as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doug Deep!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaius Julius Caesar!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caesar ducks under a wild hook from Deep.
A big right from Deep misses.
Caesar shoots in but no luck this time.
Caesar has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Deep is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Caesar avoids the body shot from Deep.
Deep throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Caesar with the counter takedown but Deep avoids it easily.
Deep takes one to the chin there.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Caesar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Deep's guard.
Deep working a defensive guard here.
Caesar postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Caesar cracks Deep with a solid left hand.
Caesar loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Caesar with a nice head shot there.
Caesar throws a big elbow that misses.
Caesar throws a strike but Deep rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Deep has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Caesar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Deep is controlling him.

Caesar looking for a sweep. Not yet Caesar, not yet.
Caesar is still trying to improve position.
Caesar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Caesar lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Deep is trying to control the position but Caesar postures up.
Deep looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caesar is one step ahead there.
Caesar loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Deep keeping moving, preventing Caesar from controlling successfully.

Deep had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Caesar defends it easily.
Deep looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caesar is one step ahead there.
Caesar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Caesar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Deep on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Deep tries to get out of the position.
Deep is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Caesar is controlling him.
Caesar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Deep works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Caesar trying to control the position from guard on top but Deep is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Caesar prevents Deep from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Caesar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Deep to the mat! Deep manages to get full guard.
Caesar postures up in Deep's guard and throws a big left but Deep blocks it.
Deep trying to control the position.

Deep has his foot on Caesar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Caesar works his way back into a safe position though.
Caesar with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Caesar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Caesar scoring with some ground and pound.
Caesar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Caesar with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Caesar with a flurry of punches that miss.
Caesar advances position into side control!
Sloppy strikes there by Caesar.
Deep sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Caesar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Deep keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caesar throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Deep to regain full guard.
Caesar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Deep wants to sweep here but Caesar controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Deep working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Caesar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Caesar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gaius Julius Caesar dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Caesar feints and as Deep raises his hands in defense, Caesar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Deep looking for a guillotine here but Caesar defends easily.
Caesar throws a big elbow that misses.
Caesar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Caesar trying to control the position from guard on top but Deep is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gaius Julius Caesar has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Caesar scoring with some ground and pound.


Deep is rocked!
Caesar arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Deep's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gaius Julius Caesar!
Gaius Julius Caesar gave a mention to AnonymouS in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
