Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Volkov and Daryl Dixon. Volkov comes to the cage accompanied by Nightmare - Avenged Sevenfold. Ruslan Volkov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Daryl Dixon's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Glass.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Dixon.

It looks like Ruslan Volkov has been cut.
Dixon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Volkov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dixon somewhat.
Nice sprawl there from Dixon as Volkov shoots in.
Dixon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No luck for Volkov with that takedown attempt.
Dixon unleashes a big counter combination but Volkov bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
A head kick misses from Dixon.
Volkov drops down looking for a counter takedown but Dixon sprawls and moves away.
Volkov takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Dixon. Volkov shrugs it off though.

Volkov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Volkov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dixon can do anything to dispel that myth.

Volkov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Volkov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Dixon is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Volkov remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Volkov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Volkov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dixon defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Volkov thows a huge punch but Dixon dodges it nicely.

Dixon felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Volkov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Volkov takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Dixon tries to close the distance and clinch but Volkov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Volkov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Volkov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dixon can do to turn this around?

Volkov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dixon throws a chopping leg kick but Volkov manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

As Volkov backs off Dixon throws a huge counter combo but Volkov manages to avoid it all.

It looked like Volkov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Dixon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Dixon scores with a one two! Volkov had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Volkov is rocked!
Dixon steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Volkov is out on his feet! Dixon sets himself and nearly takes Volkov's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Daryl Dixon!
