Silva has chosen Roots Bloody Roots - Sepultura as his entrance music. Renan Gracie could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rodrigo Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Gracie is now in Silva's guard.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there.
Silva keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
Silva pulls Gracie in close to his closed guard and prevents Gracie from doing any damage or advancing position.

Gracie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Silva stuns Gracie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Silva tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control.
Gracie unloads with some shots from mount but Silva bucks and avoids them well.
Silva wants to control but Gracie is having none of it.
Silva is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.

Silva keeps trying to improve his position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Silva wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Gracie wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.
Silva can't escape the position.
Silva is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action.
Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gracie looking to control but Silva is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gracie throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Gracie working for a guillotine from mount but Silva is in no mood to give up.
Gracie with a couple of short strikes.
Gracie looking to land elbow strikes but Silva uses the position to regain half guard.
Gracie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Silva knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Gracie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Gracie is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.
Silva is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Gracie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gracie trying to mount his opponent but Silva defends it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renan Gracie dominated that round.
That's time! Gracie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Silva lands a nice shot to the body.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Silva! But no joy.
A combination from Silva does no damage.
Silva leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Silva moves into range and connects with a jab.

Gracie drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Gracie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?
Silva is controlling Gracie's posture.

Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A little jabbing left from Silva on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renan Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silva connects with the punch.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silva wants it to stay on the feet.
Renan Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Silva.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.
Gracie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Silva lands a really nice looking cross but Gracie seems unphased.


It looks like Renan Gracie has been cut.
Gracie takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva lands with a hook. Gracie tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Silva avoids it really well and circles away.
Silva connects with a looping right hand.
Silva misses with a low kick.
Gracie attempts a counter takedown but Silva avoids it well and moves away.
Silva tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Silva.
Gracie darts in trying to clinch
and Silva counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Silva loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch.
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gracie.
Gracie fails with the takedown.
Silva looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Silva has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Silva feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gracie sprawling to the canvas! Gracie rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Silva finish him?!


Gracie is rocked!


Renan Gracie's cut is getting worse.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie is looking to clinch.
Silva connects with a looping right hand.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva throws a pinpoint strike between Gracie's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Gracie crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Silva scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rodrigo Silva!
After winning the bout, Rodrigo Silva thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
