Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Royler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes to the cage accompanied by Country boy can survive. Royler has chosen Metallica - Fuel as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ratt Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Roy Royler!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes closes the distance and clinches up with Royler, looking for a takedown. Hughes pushes Royler against the cage but Royler circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hughes shoots in and drives through. Royler sprawls well.
Hughes attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Hughes tries to bum rush Royler with a series of wild strikes but Royler uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Royler steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Hughes definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Royler avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hughes shoots in and bounces Royler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Royler is trying to keep Hughes in close.

Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but Royler is retaining full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes wants to control from the top but Royler keeps moving.
Hughes slips nicely into half guard.
Royler regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hughes throws a strike but Royler rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hughes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hughes pulls Royler in to control the position.
Hughes wants to sweep but no luck.
Hughes has Royler pulled in close to control his posture.
Hughes trying to keep a closed guard but Royler is proving a slippery customer.
Hughes wants to sweep here but Royler controlling him for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hughes looks to land a left hand but Royler moved out of range nicely.
Hughes throws a solid leg kick but Royler takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hughes.
Hughes jabs Royler right on the nose. Royler blinks but takes it well.
Royler misses with a wild body shot.
Hughes ducks under a wild hook from Royler.
Royler pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hughes cracks Royler with an open hand slap.
Hughes tries for a takedown but Royler circles away easily
and Hughes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ratt Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice defenses there by Royler.
Hughes attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Royler lands a big head kick that sends Hughes tumbling to the mat! Royler takes a step backwards and waves Hughes back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Hughes is rocked!


It looks like Ratt Hughes has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hughes lands with a hook. Royler tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hughes.
Hughes fails with the takedown.
Hughes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Royler counters with a thumping low kick.
Hughes misses with an uppercut
and Royler counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hughes waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Royler.
A good leg kick by Royler.
Royler scores with a kick to the body.
Ratt Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hughes is breathing heavily.
Royler lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hughes's sensitive parts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Royler dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ratt Hughes's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Royler sends Hughes crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Royler is motioning to the referee to let Hughes up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Hughes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Roy Royler seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Royler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Royler crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hughes - the referee stops the clock and Royler gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hughes. Royler manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Hughes seems to have got his legs back now.
Royler moves out of range of the strikes.
Hughes throws a series of punches but Royler moves out of range.
Royler takes one to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A decent looking body kick lands there for Royler.
Nice cross by Royler.
Hughes misses the body punch
and Royler counters with a straight right hand.

Hughes throws a jab when Royler was well out of range.
Hughes misses with a combination
and Royler counters with a big right hand! Oh Hughes is in trouble here! Royler follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Royler!
An intense looking Roy Royler took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Not talking so much shit now, are we? I challenge Cajun Xander, a fight to the death!'.
