PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Duke Datsik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koriolan Koltun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Duke Datsik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koriolan Koltun!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koltun attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Datsik throws a leg kick which misses Koltun's front leg but catches the back leg as Koltun tries to avoid it.
Datsik definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Koltun darts in and clinches Datsik up against the cage.
Koltun lands an elbow just above Datsik 's eye.


It looks like Duke Datsik has been cut.
Koltun throws an elbow but it's blocked.
A hook to the body from Koltun.
Koltun pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Koltun misses with an elbow over the top.
Datsik misses with a punch to the body.
Datsik tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Datsik.

Koltun is fighting off a takedown attempt but Datsik is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Koltun to the mat. Koltun regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Koltun bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Datsik's guard.

Datsik has his foot on Koltun's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koltun works his way back into a safe position though.
Koltun must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Datsik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koltun doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koltun manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Koltun got a little sloppy there for a moment and Datsik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Koltun has managed to get both his arms back between Datsik's legs - danger averted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looked like Datsik was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Koltun.

That was a close round but I would say that Duke Datsik will probably get the nod.

Koltun tries to clinch there but Datsik circles away.
Koltun buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Datsik fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Koltun wants to counter with a clinch but Datsik pushes him away.
Koltun rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Datsik counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

A little feinted left hand from Datsik on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Datsik decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Koltun is refusing to be controlled, as Datsik sits in half guard.
Koltun is looking to improve his position.
Datsik is trying to control the action in half guard but Koltun is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Koltun wants to improve his position but Datsik is controlling well.
Datsik thows a huge punch but Koltun dodges it nicely.

Datsik seems to be working for a kimura but Koltun defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Koltun is holding on to half guard well.
Let's hope that Koltun has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Datsik lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Datsik feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Koltuns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Datsik shoots in for a double leg but Koltun sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Duke Datsik showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Datsik, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
