Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Correa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Correa!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Eddie Farnsworth and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Robertson - just one landing.
Jose Correa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robertson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Robertson scores with a nice head shot.
Robertson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Correa to score with a decent uppercut.
Robertson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Some wild striking there from Correa.
Correa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Robertson was well out of range. Poor timing from Correa.
Correa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Robertson throws a leg kick but Correa moved away.
Correa is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Correa misses with a series of wild punches.
We've been told by Robertson's head coaches at Malicious Intent Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Correa swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Robertson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Correa scores with a hook to the body. Robertson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Robertson misses with a straight left.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Correa! But no joy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Robertson looks to land a right hand but Correa moved out of range.
Correa misses with a body punch
and Robertson counters with a one-two to the body.
Correa takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Correa slips a jab and a cross from Robertson.
Robertson misses the shot to the body.
Correa misses with the combination.
A swing and a miss from Correa.
It looked like Robertson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Correa.
Robertson throws a big shot that misses.
Correa takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Correa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Correa drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Robertson throws a hook but Correa avoids it easily.
Correa moves away from the strike by Robertson.
Robertson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Robertson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Correa.
Robertson throws a body shot but no joy.
A looping hook to the body misses from Robertson. Correa does a little dance to reset his feet.
Correa moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Robertson misses with the combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Correa misses with a hook
and Robertson counters with a stiff right hand.
Correa slips under a jab from Robertson.
Robertson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Correa.
Robertson misses with a few strikes there.
A little jabbing left from Correa on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Robertson misses with a series of wild punches.
Robertson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Correa lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Correa missing with a left hand there. Robertson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Robertson gets caught napping as Correa dives in and scores a takedown. Robertson manages to retain guard.
Correa trying to control the position from guard on top but Robertson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Correa works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Correa is trying to control. Robertson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Correa is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Robertson has managed to free his arm - good work.

Correa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Robertson is just riding it out for now. Correa eventually gives up the hold.
Correa wants to take a breather but Robertson is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Correa wants to work for an arm triangle but Robertson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Robertson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Correa on the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Correa is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Robertson reverses the position - he's now on top in Correa's guard.

Correa is looking to cinch up a triangle. Robertson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Correa's body to avoid the submission. Correa has instead reached around Robertson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Correa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jose Correa!
Our winner, Jose Correa, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
