Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malcolm West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathan Meyers!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West fails with an attempt to clinch.
Meyers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as West sprawls well. West wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Meyers gets slowly back to his feet.
West tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Meyers manages to circle out of the way.
West fails with a takedown attempt.
Meyers tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but West defends well and Meyers ends up having to push West into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
West lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Meyers darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyers is trying to control. West wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
West knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meyers on the ground.
Meyers content to control rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Meyers might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Meyers wants to take a breather but West is having none of it.
West really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Still in half guard, Meyers seems content to control.
West wants to control but Meyers is keeping busy.
Meyers tries to stand and escape but West is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
West closes the distance looking to clinch

and Meyers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Meyers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
West keeping full guard, as Meyers tries to pass.
West trying to control the position.
Meyers wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Meyers engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
West is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Meyers works over West with some ground and pound from guard.

Meyers drops back looking for a leg! West is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and West manages to kick Meyers off! Meyers jumps back into West's guard.
Meyers throwing strikes from guard but West blocks nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Meyers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. West swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Meyers looks to land a combination. West sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

West drives through and clinches with Meyers against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
West wants to break the clinch but can't.
West wants to get back to striking at distance but Meyers won't allow it.
Meyers prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonathan Meyers dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Meyers moves into the clinch.
West is looking to take this one to the mat.
Meyers misses with a knee strike.

Meyers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
West checks the leg kick nicely there.
Jonathan Meyers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Meyers has managed to clinch.
Meyers fails to pull guard.
Stalling in the clinch from Meyers.

Meyers has West pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Meyers pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending West tumbling to the mat - Meyers dives into West's guard.
Meyers's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Meyers is fighting to break West's control of his arms but West is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Meyers passes easily into side control. Nice work.
West is looking to reverse the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
West tries to buck Meyers off but Meyers is having none of it.
West dodges the ground and pound from Meyers.
Meyers in side control, throwing shots but West defends.
West gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Meyers throws some wild stikes that West manages to avoid easily.

West really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Meyers scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Meyers landing strikes, looking to finish!


West is rocked!
Meyers loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have West scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Meyers land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Meyers stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonathan Meyers!
