PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vasyl Zydrunas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ratri Khumpai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zydrunas kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Judas priest diamonds and rust. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zydrunas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khumpai's guard.
Zydrunas throws a strike but Khumpai rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Zydrunas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Zydrunas tries to get out of the position.
Zydrunas is trying to keep Khumpai in close.
Zydrunas wants to get back to his feet but Khumpai passes into half guard.
Zydrunas wants to control but Khumpai passes into side.

Zydrunas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Khumpai gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Zydrunas doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Khumpai counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Zydrunas lands with a hook. Khumpai tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Khumpai swings for the body but Zydrunas moves out of range.

Zydrunas looking to score a takedown here. Khumpai is defending well but Zydrunas drives through and ends up in Khumpai's guard.
Zydrunas throws an elbow that misses. Khumpai uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Zydrunas's guard. Nice move by Khumpai!

Khumpai decides to stand back up. Khumpai steps back and let's Zydrunas get back to his feet.

Zydrunas tries to clinch but Khumpai is having none of it.
Ratri Khumpai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Zydrunas throws a right and a left that Khumpai avoids nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zydrunas takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Zydrunas is breathing heavily.
Zydrunas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Zydrunas shoots in looking for a takedown. Khumpai tries to sprawl out of it but Zydrunas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khumpai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vasyl Zydrunas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Khumpai lands a big head kick that sends Zydrunas tumbling to the mat! Khumpai takes a step backwards and waves Zydrunas back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Vasyl Zydrunas has been cut.

Khumpai lands a glancing blow to the side of Zydrunas's head.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Zydrunas is defended easily by Khumpai.
Zydrunas blocks a jab.
A slapping body kick lands there for Khumpai.

Khumpai feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Zydrunas sprawling to the canvas! Zydrunas rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Khumpai finish him?!

Zydrunas is rocked!
Khumpai thows a body kick. Zydrunas tries to catch it but that hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khumpai works Zydrunas's body with a nice hook.

Khumpai lands a big uppercut and Zydrunas crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Zydrunas looks OK. Khumpai waves Zydrunas back to his feet!
Oh Zydrunas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Khumpai tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zydrunas was well out of range. Poor timing from Khumpai.
An attempted straight right counter from Zydrunas misses the target.
Zydrunas seems to have got his legs back now.
Khumpai throws a right and a left that Zydrunas avoids nicely.
A nice inside leg kick there by Khumpai. That's going to slow Zydrunas down.

Khumpai drops Zydrunas with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Zydrunas looks back up at him and smiles so Khumpai waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Zydrunas moves out of range of the strikes.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zydrunas throws out a loose jab but Khumpai uses good head movement to avoid it.
Zydrunas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Khumpai counters with a huge head kick that drops Zydrunas! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
