The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samaras moves into range and connects with a jab.

Samaras uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McCane has time to react.

McCane closes the distance and pushes Samaras back into the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McCane uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McCane lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Samaras has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Samaras and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Samaras feints the counter takedown.

A jab lands there for Samaras.
Samaras has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Samaras bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McCane's head backwards.
McCane takes one to the chin there.
A left lands for Samaras.

McCane is rocked!

McCane moves into range and clinches up with Samaras.

McCane ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McCane no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
McCane lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

McCane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

McCane wants to pass the guard but Samaras is keeping the position.

McCane thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Samaras preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McCane trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
McCane keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Samaras's head.

McCane postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Samaras is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McCane, into his guard.

Samaras wants to get up but he can't break McCane's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lefteris Samaras dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A cross from Samaras lands.
Samaras thuds his right hand into McCane's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Samaras digs a good hook to McCane's body.
Lefteris Samaras seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McCane on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Samaras fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Samaras lands with an overhand left.

McCane drives through and clinches with Samaras against the cage.
McCane tries to pull guard but Samaras holds him up against the cage and eventually McCane drops back down to his feet.
Samaras tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

McCane jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Samaras walks away with a smile on his face. McCane gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor McCane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Samaras drops McCane with a huge uppercut! McCane drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Samaras is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
