Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Denver Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Druss Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Druss Walker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Denver Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Druss Walker!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Vasquez. That did some damage!
Walker leaves Vasquez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Walker darts in and clinches Vasquez up against the cage.
Vasquez can't get the takedown.

Walker breaks the clinch.
Vasquez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Vasquez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denver Vasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vasquez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walker defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vasquez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Vasquez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walker controls the pace.

Vasquez wants to improve his position but Walker is controlling well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Walker not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Walker tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vasquez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Vasquez is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Walker jumps into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vasquez seems a little lost for a moment, as Walker dominates the positioning.
Vasquez is trying to work for a sweep but Walker has mounted him!

Walker wants to finish this one by submission but Vasquez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Walker.
Vasquez tries to lock up and control but Walker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Vasquez tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Walker working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Vasquez slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Walker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vasquez is trying to defend but Walker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Walker is working for a kimura here but Vasquez manages to reverse the position and he's now in Walker's guard.

Walker pushes Vasquez off and gets back to his feet.
Vasquez shoots in looking for a takedown. Walker tries to sprawl out of it but Vasquez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Walker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Vasquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Walker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vasquez sprawls well initially but Walker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vasquez is trying to maintain the position but Walker is very close to passing his half guard.
Walker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Walker seems to be working for a kimura but Vasquez defends the submission attempt.
Walker stalling.
Walker passes into side control, despite Vasquez's attempt to control the position.
Walker has knee on belly and moves into mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Walker stands up from mount. Strange move.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Walker!

Walker shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vasquez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Vasquez struggling a bit here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Walker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vasquez, who protects the arm well.
Walker controls the position from side control.

Let's hope that Walker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Walker passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Vasquez!
Walker postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Vasquez looks a forlorn figure.
Vasquez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Vasquez tries to lock up and control but Walker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Vasquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Walker controlling the position easily from mount.
Vasquez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Walker takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Walker throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vasquez tries to roll but Walker sticks to his back.
Vasquez is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Druss Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Ouch! a nice leg kick from Walker, right into the meat.
Walker doesn't manage to clinch there - Vasquez circles away.
Vasquez shoots for a takedown but Walker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vasquez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Walker but Walker pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Vasquez is working an open guard so Walker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Vasquez is looking for a triangle here but Walker uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Vasquez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Walker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Walker stands up and we're back to a striking position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Walker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Walker wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denver Vasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Walker takes the fight into the clinch.

Walker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Denver Vasquez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Druss Walker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Walker closes the distance and clinches.

Druss Walker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Walker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
