Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wes Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Strong Omar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Landry misses the body punch
and Omar counters with a head kick.

Landry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Landry throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Landry breaks the clinch.
Omar connects with a body shot.
Omar fails with an attempt to clinch.
A big right from Landry misses.
Omar is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Landry leaves Omar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Omar is looking to break free of the clinch but Landry has double underhooks.

Landry tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've been informed that Omar has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Landry wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Omar has him pressed against the cage.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wes Landry. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Omar breaks the clinch.

Omar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Omar remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Omar has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Landry does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Omar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
A lull in the action here as Omar stalls from top position.
Landry is looking to regain half guard here but Omar keeps moving and retains side control.
Landry is trying to control Omar's posture but Omar avoids it.
The referee asks Omar politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Omar prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Omar has hold of Landry's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Landry seems comfortable defending it but Omar has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Landry is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Landry is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Omar couldn't care less - he's delighted!
