Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benito Andrews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borys Maniek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Borys Maniek will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Benito Andrews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Borys Maniek!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maniek looking to score a takedown here. Andrews is defending well but Maniek drives through and ends up in Andrews's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andrews wants to sweep here but Maniek controlling him for the moment.
Andrews looking to control.
Andrews is looking to stand up but Maniek isn't so interested in that idea.
Andrews wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andrews is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Andrews is really struggling to control Maniek but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
My spies in Cozad MMA St Petersburg inform me that Maniek has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maniek is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Maniek shoots in and bounces Andrews off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Andrews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Maniek drops back looking for a leg! Andrews is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Andrews manages to kick Maniek off! Maniek jumps back into Andrews's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Andrews is pulling down on Maniek's head to control his posture.

Maniek is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Andrews wants to stand and escape but Maniek is having none of it.
Andrews is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Andrews might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Maniek is in close to Andrews's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Maniek is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Andrews falls off balance throwing a combination

and Maniek counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Andrews!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Andrews wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Andrews can't do much from the bottom here.

Maniek tries for a kimura but Andrews is defending well.

Maniek has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Andrews swinging wildly here.
Maniek with the counter takedown but Andrews avoids it easily.

Maniek shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Andrews's guard.

Maniek drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maniek jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Andrews can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Maniek controls the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Andrews controls Maniek momentarily but Maniek frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Maniek takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Andrews thuds his shin into the meat of Maniek's side.
Maniek takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

and Andrews counters by moving into the clinch.
Andrews is trying to pull guard but Maniek has him pressed against the cage.

Andrews has picked Maniek up - he's going for a ride! Andrews dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Maniek keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Maniek moves into full guard.
Maniek has control of Andrews's left arm, preventing Andrews from doing any damage.

Andrews throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Maniek works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Maniek utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Maniek pulls Andrews in close to his closed guard and prevents Andrews from doing any damage or advancing position.
Andrews throws a strike but Maniek rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Andrews wants to get back to his feet but Maniek is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Andrews tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maniek stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Andrews swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maniek controlling from the top position.
Let's hope that Maniek has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Maniek decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Maniek seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Maniek is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Andrews doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maniek.
Maniek stops Andrews from getting back to his feet.
Andrews won't allow Maniek to pass to mount.
Maniek takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Maniek seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Andrews is trying to stand back up but Maniek is controlling him

Maniek decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Maniek looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Andrews wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Borys Maniek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Maniek changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Andrews looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Andrews pushes Maniek away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maniek gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Andrews wants to control but Maniek postures up.
Andrews seems a little lost for a moment, as Maniek dominates the positioning.
Maniek prevents Andrews from escaping the position.
Maniek wants to stand but Andrews has his arm trapped.
Andrews takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Maniek has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Andrews is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Maniek asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Andrews shoots in looking for a takedown. Maniek tries to sprawl out of it but Andrews keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maniek manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Andrews lands a nice looking kick to the body. Maniek takes a step back to recover.

Maniek looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Andrews!
Andrews is trying to escape the position but Maniek is controlling the position.

Andrews is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Maniek has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Maniek just content to control the position.

Maniek wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Andrews, who protects the arm well.
Andrews is looking to reverse the position.
Andrews is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Maniek has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Maniek lands a nice forearm strike.

Andrews tries to buck Maniek off but Maniek is having none of it.

Maniek is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Borys Maniek comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Maniek winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
