Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edward Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norbert Grupe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durden comes to the cage accompanied by Monster. Grupe has chosen Organized Konfusion - Bring It On (Buckwild Remix) as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Norbert Grupe!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durden wants to clinch
and Grupe counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Durden thinking.
Durden tries to close the distance and clinch but Grupe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Durden gets a takedown into half guard.
Durden thows a huge punch but Grupe dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grupe is not content to let Durden control the position.
Grupe is looking to escape.
Grupe trying to control but Durden postures up.
Grupe blocking the ground and pound attempt from Durden.

Grupe is defending against the submission attempts here by Durden.
Grupe wants to improve his position but Durden is controlling well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Durden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grupe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Durden in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Durden pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Grupe is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Durden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Grupe controls Durden momentarily but Durden frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Durden gets a double leg takedown into Grupe's guard.
Grupe wants to sweep here but Durden controlling him for the moment.

Grupe wants to stand and escape but Durden is having none of it.
Grupe is pulling down on Durden's head. It's preventing any offense from Durden, at least for the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Durden shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Durden showed some decent athleticism there.
Durden not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Grupe is defending against the submission attempts here by Durden.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Grupe looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Durden throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grupe tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Durden is in Grupe's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Durden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Grupe wants to hit a switch here but Durden passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Grupe there!

Durden can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Grupe is looking to escape.
Grupe tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Durden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Grupe sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Durden is nestled in close to Grupe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Durden misses with a head shot. Grupe uses the momentum to regain guard.

Durden shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Grupe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Grupe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Durden's guard.

Durden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Durden looking to hit a scissor sweep but Grupe is one step ahead there.

Durden thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Grupe works over Durden with some ground and pound from guard.
Grupe throws a big elbow that misses.
Grupe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Durden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Grupe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Durden is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Grupe defends well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Grupe decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Durden, up you get!
Grupe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Durden sprawls well. Durden wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grupe gets slowly back to his feet.
Durden takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Durden feints and as Grupe raises his hands in defense, Durden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Grupe is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Grupe trying to keep a closed guard but Durden is proving a slippery customer.
Durden takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Grupe wants to sweep but no luck.
Grupe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Grupe wants to stand but Durden is controlling the position.

Grupe keeping moving, preventing Durden from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Norbert Grupe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Grupe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Grupe looks to score with a jab to the body but Durden is just out of range.
As Grupe tries to get set, Durden tries to push him back and clinch up but Grupe manages to avoid the attempt.

Durden closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Durden lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Grupe down.
Grupe parries the strikes from Durden easily there. Durden is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Grupe to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Grupe misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Durden scores with punches from side control.
Who's going to make the next move?
Edward Durden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Durden prevents Grupe from escaping the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Durden, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
